Developing a pet-sitting service has always been one of my
dreams. Doing it however took years and the encouragement of
another professional pet-sitter Deb Ryan in Woodstock, GA. Deb
was the professional pet-sitter I used during monthly business
travels in GA. Deb had an elderly kitty with chronic renal failure
who—like my beloved Merlot - required sub-q therapy daily as well
as oral medications. When I moved back to Columbia, MO, in 2004
she talked me into starting my own pet-sitting company.
I incorporated City Kitty in July 2004, obtained general liability
insurance and dishonesty bond coverage, and became certified in
Pet First Aid from the Boone County American Red Cross and
Animals in Disasters by FEMA.
By September 2004 I had also become certified as a Professional
Pet-Sitter by the National Association of Professional Pet-Sitters and
as a Professional Pet-Sitting Technician by PSI. I am now working
on PSI certification as an Advanced Pet-Sitting Technician.
I believe City Kitty Pet-Sitting Service offers superior service to the
busy pet owner in Columbia. I do this by customizing each pet-
sitting assignment into a formal pet care plan that is reviewed by the
Client prior to the initiation of services. I also use electronic
communications to keep the Client updated on their pet and home
while they are away. City Kitty adheres to the PSI Quality
Standards for Pet-Sitters (ask for a City Kitty - PSI Matrix).

American Red Cross, as an Instructor for Standard First Aid, CPR,
and AED for adults, children, and infants. I am now the Pet First Aid
